2022 Edwin Parr Award Nominee
Posted on Mar 28, 2022The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is pleased to announce that Miss Sarah Kerr, Fine Arts Teacher at St. Mary's School, has been chosen to represent our school division as the 2022 Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) Edwin Parr Award Nominee! Sarah will be recognized at the Public Board Meeting on April 12th at 4:30 p.m. held at Central Office.
"Sarah is one of the hardest working and finest examples of a first-year teacher I have encountered in my career as an administrator. Her commitment to her students and the care that she takes in nurturing each individual is teaching at its best. Whether that calls upon Sarah to attend 7:00 a.m. volleyball practice, staying until 7:00 p.m. for musical rehearsal, or planning and delivering some of the most engaging lessons I have had the pleasure of viewing, Sarah is willing to commit the time and effort for the betterment of her students, school and community. Her knowledge and willingness to learn will continue to guide her through her career and many future successes" - Nick Gale, Principal
Each year, the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) honors six outstanding first year teachers for the Edwin Parr Teacher Award, one from each zone across the province. Sarah, as well as the other Zone 6 nominees, will be acknowledged at a banquet later this spring. ASBA zone winners are then honoured at the Annual Fall Conference in Edmonton.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we wish Sarah all the best. Good luck Sarah and congratulations on your nomination!
