The purpose of the school nutrition program is to provide students in participating schools with access to nutritious food from each of the four good groups each day during the school year, at no additional costs to students or their families. MHCBE's school nutrition program currently supports four elementary schools in our division. Students are provided with one daily nutritious meal that follows the Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth.
Healthy schools encourage students to:
- practice healthy eating
- practice active living
- contribute to positive social environments in their school
