AHS Notice: School Immunization Update
Posted on Nov 10, 2020November 10, 2020
Attn: Superintendents, school administrators, school staff, parents and students:
Due to the recent increase in COVID 19 cases in our South Zone region, and the immediate
response required by Public Health, we are halting all school immunizations in the South Zone
until further notice. This includes any school immunizations that are booked at local Public
Health clinics - parents will receive a call soon to re-book in the new year.
Any school immunization dates that were booked for the month of November 2020 will be
cancelled and re-booked when we have a better idea of the COVID workload closer to the end
of November. Some schools in the SZ were just about to be booked by school nurses; however,
we will have to re-evaluate our program timelines first. Any immunizations that were booked
for December 2020 are temporarily on hold also until further notice.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and we appreciate your flexibility this year within this
changing Pandemic environment!
We recognize that immunizations are an important part of maintaining the health of our
students, and we will update you and make alternate arrangements as able.
On behalf of our Medical officer of Health, Dr. Vivien Suttorp, Director, Cheryl Andres, South
Zone Public Health Managers and school Public Health Registered Nurses, we thank you for
your understanding and support!
