Excellence in Catholic Education Award 2023
Posted on Feb 17, 2023The Board of Trustees for the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is pleased to announce Mrs. Gina Betker, Teacher at St. Mary’s School as the recipient of the 2023 Excellence in Catholic Education Award. As the recipient of this award, Mrs.Betker will be honoured at the S.P.I.C.E. (Shared Purpose in Catholic Education) Annual Spring Conference hosted by the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association. Congratulations Gina!
The Excellence in Catholic Education Award honours exemplary contribution to Catholic education. Gina Betker’s commitment to Catholic Education and to the care of our youth is evident in everything she does. Her nominators have said that she makes her faith a priority in both her professional and personal life. Gina has served her school community for many years as school faith leader, student leadership advisor and school musical choreographer/costume designer. Gina has been a leader in the school when it comes to developing engaging religion activities for her students. Gina is also a role model to her students and colleagues through her active involvement in parish life, as a Eucharistic Minister, and Sacramental Preparation teacher. When notified, Gina humbly expressed that she was honoured to have been nominated for this award.
Background on the Award: The Excellence in Catholic Education Award was established by the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta to communicate clearly the benefits of Catholic education and its value to society. This prestigious award recognizes Catholic teachers in Alberta who have done an exemplary job in preparing our youth to grow into outstanding citizens. In our District, a recipient is awarded annually. We extend our congratulations to each of this year’s nominees who are passionate about Catholic education, inspire their students, and are committed to fostering the well-being of youth.
