Congratulations Ron Blackmer, 2019 Excellence in Catholic Education Award recipient!

The Board of Trustees for the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is pleased to announce Mr. Ron Blackmer, Principal of St. Michael’s School as the recipient of the 2019 Excellence in Catholic Education Award.   As the recipient of this award, Mr. Blackmer will be honoured at the S.P.I.C.E. (Shared Purpose in Catholic Education) Annual Spring Conference hosted by the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association.  Congratulations Ron!

The Excellence in Catholic Education Award honours exemplary contribution to Catholic education.  Ron Blackmer’s commitment to Catholic Education and to the care of our youth is evident in everything he does.  He leads assemblies with an enthusiasm for our faith that is contagious to both students and staff.  Ron has a pastoral approach to all interactions within his school community and in our parishes.  His willingness to give of his time and talents in the parish, as well in the school, inspires others to do the same.  His door is always open to students, staff, and parents and his faith guides all decisions that he makes. When told that he was the successful recipient of the award, Ron was both humbled and honoured.

Background on the Award: The Excellence in Catholic Education Award was established by the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta to communicate clearly the benefits of Catholic education and its value to society.  This prestigious award recognizes Catholic teachers in Alberta who have done an exemplary job in preparing our youth to grow into outstanding citizens.  In our District, a recipient is awarded annually.  A committee is established composed of a Teacher, a Trustee, a Parent, an Administrator and a Member of the Parish Community to determine the winning recipient.  We extend our congratulations to each of this year’s nominees who are passionate about Catholic education, inspire their students, and are committed to fostering the well-being of youth.

Mr. Blackmer will be recognized for his outstanding contribution to Catholic education at the March 12, 2019 Catholic School Board Meeting at 6 p.m., general public are welcome to attend.
