Catholic Education Week
Posted on Oct 8, 2024From October 19-25, Medicine Hat Catholic schools will celebrate the gift of publicly funded faith-based education!
Each year, Catholic School Divisions across Alberta engage in a week-long celebration of the unique identity and distinctive contributions of Catholic education. Catholic Education Week, formerly recognized in May, will now be held during the third week of October, commencing with Catholic Education Sunday. This impactful week-long celebration is coordinated by The Alberta Catholic School Trustees Association (ACSTA), The Council of Catholic Superintendents of Alberta (CCSSA), and the Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education (GrACE).
This year Catholic Education Week revolves around the theme “Testify: Share Stories of Hope”. The theme was inspired by joyful anticipation of the 2025 Jubilee Year’s theme “Pilgrims of Hope”. With open hearts of love, we prepare ourselves for this celebration with the reminder that we are all called to love God and each other.
Schools will be celebrating Catholic Education Week in schools by:
- Participating in a Catholic Education Liturgy
- Praying a Catholic Education Week prayer each morning
- Learning about and praying The Angelus at lunch
- Learning about the Saint of the Day
- Creating art for the Knights of Columbus Art Show
- Creating a "Wall of Hope" in the school or classroom
- Wearing a blue shirt on Thursday October 24
- and through various school-coordinated activities!
