Congratulations Ron Pisoni, 2020 Excellence in Catholic Education Award recipient!

The Board of Trustees for the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is pleased to announce Mr. Ron ​Pisoni​, ​Teacher​ ​at Notre Dame Academy​ as the recipient of the 20​20​ Excellence in Catholic Education Award. As the recipient of this award, Mr. Pisoni will be honoured at the S.P.I.C.E. (Shared Purpose in Catholic Education) Annual Spring Conference hosted by the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association. Congratulations Ron!

The Excellence in Catholic Education Award honours exemplary contribution to Catholic education. Ron Pisoni’s commitment to Catholic Education and to the care of our youth is evident in everything he does. His nominators have said that he ignites a flame within his students and inevitably strengthens their faith through classroom discussions, small group inquiries and one on one talks with students. Ron has been a coach in his school, encouraged his students to support a child through the CHALICE program and has organized the Knights of Columbus Basketball Free Throw competition. He is a role model to his students and colleagues through his involvement in Holy Family Church as a Eucharistic Minister, Coordinator of the altar servers, and has recently taken on the Grand Knight position of the local Knights of Columbus. When told he was the successful recipient Ron was both humbled and honoured.

Background on the Award: The Excellence in Catholic Education Award was established by the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta to communicate clearly the benefits of Catholic education and its value to society. This prestigious award recognizes Catholic teachers in Alberta who have done an exemplary job in preparing our youth to grow into outstanding citizens.  In our District, a recipient is awarded annually. A committee is established composed of a Teacher, a Trustee, a Parent, an Administrator and a Member of the Parish Community to determine the winning recipient. We extend our congratulations to each of this year’s nominees who are passionate about Catholic education, inspire their students, and are committed to fostering the well-being of youth.

Mr. Pisoni will be recognized for his outstanding contribution to Catholic education at the March 10, 2020 Catholic School Board Meeting at 4:30 pm, general public are welcome to attend.
