New Deputy Superintendent

Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is thrilled to announce the hiring of our new Deputy Superintendent, Mr. Nick Gale. Mr. Gale is currently the Principal at St. Mary’s School and will be transitioning into his new role in the coming months. Current Deputy Superintendent, Mr. Chuck Hellman, will be working with Mr. Gale for the remainder of the school year before his June retirement.

Mr. Gale was born and raised in Medicine Hat going through the Catholic school system first at Mother Teresa, then St. Mary’s School, and finally graduating from Monsignor McCoy High School. He obtained his Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science Combined Degree from the University of Lethbridge and his Master of Arts in Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga University.

Mr. Gale started his teaching career with Medicine Hat Catholic at Monsignor McCoy High School and has also taught at St. Michael’s as well as led the Community Coming Together implementation at Notre Dame Academy and St. Mary’s School. As an administrator, he has worked in various schools in the division: Mother Teresa School, Notre Dame Academy, St. Francis Xavier, and finally St. Mary’s School in his present role. Mr. Gale has had a wide variety of experience over his career but most notably he led the development and implementation of the St. Francis Xavier Sports Academy in 2019. 

In moving into this new role as Deputy Superintendent Mr. Gale looks forward to working with all of the staff members of Medicine Hat Catholic and ensuring that all of our students have access to schools focused on staff and student wellness and academic success. 

The Board of Trustees and MHCBE senior administration team look forward to working with Mr. Gale.
