Red Wednesday
Posted on Nov 15, 2022On Wednesday, November 16 the Church in Canada will acknowledge Red Wednesday; a day of prayer for persecuted Christians.
Red Wednesday is a day to acknowledge and pray for Christians around the world that are persecuted for their religious beliefs. In Partnership with Aid to the Church in Need and The Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary, Medicine Hat Catholic Schools will support this initiative by engaging in prayer and wearing red in solidarity on November 16.
Prayer is the bond that unites us in love and solidarity with our brothers and sisters who suffer and are persecuted for their love of Jesus. Please join us in praying this Red Wednesday prayer throughout November for persecuted Christians.
Prayer for Persecuted Christians
O God of all the nations,
the One God who is and was and always will be,
in your providence you willed that your Church
be united to the suffering of your Son.
Look with mercy on your servants
who are persecuted for their faith in you.
Grant them perseverance and courage
to be worthy imitators of Christ.
Bring your wisdom upon leaders of nations
to work for peace among all peoples.
May your Spirit open conversion
for those who contradict your will,
that we may live in harmony.
Give us the grace to be united in truth and freedom,
and to always seek your will in our lives.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
