National Indigenous Peoples Day is a day recognizing and celebrating the cultures and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Indigenous peoples of Canada.
How can I celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day?
We encourage you to participate in activities in your community to learn more about the richness and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural expressions and stories.
- Attend the City of Medicine Hat National Indigenous Peoples Day ceremony and block party
- Attend a virtual field trip listening to Métis fiddle traditions.
- Watch a documentary or movie featuring Indigenous culture, history or starring an Indigenous actor or director.
- Stream an Indigenous artist or Indigenous podcast on Spotify/Apple Music.
- Read a book by an Indigenous author, our schools' libraries have a great selection of books to choose from!
- Book an indigenous presenter or performer (dance, art, music, etc) for your school, classroom, or upcoming event.
- Visit the MHC Indigenous Engagement page for activities and events at the Medicine Hat College.
- Visit the Miywasin Friendship Centre website for activities and events in our community all year round!
